Bye-bye, downloads: Apple's new Podcasts app enables better streaming
With no fanfare other than a featured spot on its App Store, Apple has officially launched a separate app for users to manage and listen to podcasts, straightforwardly titled "Podcasts." The major advantage of the app is that it erases the distinction between podcast episodes that have and have not been downloaded—a longtime hangup in the Music app, and one that podcast makers have previously had to circumvent.
